When a child comes in from today through Easter for treatment (chemo, radiation etc) they will receive one of each. All of the children that are on the oncology/hematology ward will also receive one. This will also be the first delivery to the new hospital in Youngstown. Happy Easter Everyone! Thank you for all of your support. We could not do this without YOU friends.

And this is what we have been up to!

Ordered the Easter Candy for our kids and will be delivering it to Akron Childrens Hospital on April 11th.

We have SO many new and exciting things happening. We will be announcing LIV THRU ART in May so keep watching the blog. It is going to be an over the top wonderful experience and program for our kids.

We have our first 2011 Gala Auction Committee meeting at the end of April.. I know, right..can it be that time already? If you are interested on serving on the committee this year drop me an email at susan@projectedbear.org

We are busy now getting ready for Camp. I met with Kim and Doug from Childrens today to discuss details. It is going to be the BEST year ever!

Our scholarship applications keep coming in. So far I know of seven young men and women that scholarships will be awarded to. That is VERY exciting.

I will post again the beginning of April with the "rest of the news"!

Have a blessed day!

Susan

We Need Your Help

With Akron Childrens Hospital in Youngstown being added to our list of children we provide for we are in need of several smaller fund raisers through out the year.

Restaurant Fundraisers, Hot Dog Stands, Rummage Sales, Team Sponsored Events, Game Nights, Night at the Races, Personal Garage Sales and Bake Sales are among the ideas that have been given for small fund raisers.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!

Is anyone willing to host a small fundraiser for Project Ed Bear? Do you know someone or someplace that would be willing?

We have until now been able to fund everything we provide through our Annual Gala Auction that is always held at Quaker Station in Akron the Monday after Thanksgiving and donations from supporters throughout the year.

But we are projected to be serving twice as many children with cancer and blood disorders by this time next year.

If you can help please email me at susan@projectedbear.org

Thank you from my heart,
Susan

The Scoop

I'm very excited to share with you that Project Ed Bear presented a $58,300.00 check to Akron Childrens Hospital this week for the Camp Ed Bear Endowment fund.
We could have never done this without YOUR help. We are humbled and honored to have your support.

I also have other news to share.

Project Ed Bear will be fully serving the children of the Oncology/Hematology wards at TWO Akron Childrens Hospitals as of April 4th. The new one is in Youngstown.

We celebrate being able to serve more children in Ohio. We also know that this means that we will need to take our fund raising efforts from one to at least two events a year with the main one still being the annual Auction Gala in November.

If anyone has any ideas or would like to be involved in the start up of a new annual event drop me a line at susan@projectedbear.org

Thank you for your continued support. You make a world of difference in the lives of many children.

Susan

Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day to all of our Project Ed Bear Friends. I delivered 100 Boxes of Valentines Candy AND the eight PlayStation 3's with controllers for the Clinic on Friday.

We are excited to have the PlayStations there in the clinic as well as each hospital room on the unit.

This is just a couple of the things made possible by your generous support.

We are busy planning Camp Ed Bear that will take place June 3rd,4th and 5th. The children and staff look forward to this all year long and this year we have many special things in store and many surprises.

We also are in need of volunteers for Saturday, June 4th. Please email me at susan@projectedbear.org or reply to this post if you are interested.

I am also looking for local (Akron, Canton ,Cleveland) area artist that are willing to donate on Friday night a month to work with and teach children with cancer.
If that is you or you know someone please contact me.

Have a blessed Valentines Day surrounded by the people you love.

Thank You To Wadsworth Middle School Wrestling Team

We would like to thank Mr. Matthew Shiarla (Wrestling Coach), his wife and the entire Wrestling team for their donation in memory of Olivia Ward. We were both humbled and honored to accept it.

I loved Liv very much so this donation means a great deal to me personally and to all the children it will serve.
